Highland Park

Highland Park provides a beautiful setting in which people can meet. With 2 large shaded pavilions and multiple smaller pavilions available, the park can accommodate hundreds of people at one time. Electrical power is available to both large pavilions. The large pavilion provides a multiple-use stage opportunity and has a grass amphitheater on the north side of the pavilion. Five smaller shade structures, each with two picnic tables are strategically placed throughout the park. Off-street parking spaces accommodate more than 90 cars. 2 Pavilions Available

The Razor Ridge Lake Park is a unique 4-acre park, which includes an urban fishery. Razor Ridge Lake is approximately 4.8 million gallons. At 28 feet deep, the lake is deeper than most urban fisheries. The fishery is stocked with Rainbow Trout, Large Mouth Bass, and Blue Gill. The lake is continuously stocked from November through May and provides a wide range of seasonal fishing opportunities for anglers. 1 Pavilion Available

Located along the Santa Clara River, this 2 acre park suffered tremendous damage during the 2005 floods. Although much of the property was lost in the flood, it was re-built and includes a children’s playground with swings, shaded picnic area with barbecues, restroom facilities, grass areas, and walking path. Brooks Nature Park

Located at the top of Main Street, Brooks Nature Park with its serene Cox Pond is a neighborhood park whose architect and focal point are provided by nature. This historic location was the original water source for the settlers of the valley and offers natural wonders found nowhere else in Utah. Botanists have discovered plants that grow only in this unique microclimate protected by canyon walls from harsh winds and insulated by lush plant life. Water percolating from the surrounding red cliffs creates emergent natural springs which fill the pond and supply the water for the historic Waterwalk down Main Street. The park is easily enjoyed by walking the gravel path under the shade of a variety of trees. At the top of the park the trail reaches a small amphitheater and more adventurous hikers can continue up the canyon into the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve trail system. Canyons Softball Complex

The Canyons Softball Complex is a world class softball facility and a neighborhood park combined. The parking access and field hub area have recently been improved with trellis covered pavilions adjacent to the parking lot and raised seat wall planters behind the fields. Softball tournaments are the typical activity drawing participants to the, Huntsman Senior Games, the Heatstroker Tournament, and many others. The neighborhood park elements include a children’s playground, trellis covered pavilions and restroom facilities. A pedestrian tunnel under Snow Canyon Parkway connects this facility to the Snow Canyon Trail head parking lot and Tawa Pond. The Canyons Softball Complex is a WiFi hotspot. This 13.5 acre neighborhood park nestled between Panorama Elementary and Pine View Middle schools was built during Utah’s Centennial Celebration year. This park provides large play fields for soccer and softball, an asphalt loop trail, a 100 seat stepped concrete amphitheater with rolling hills of grass, and a community garden with displays of ornamental grasses and adapted plant materials. The Parks Division shares the green house with the School District who introduces young students to the delightful experience of propagating ornamental plants and vegetables. Cottonwood Cove Park

Cottonwood Cove Park is a 7 acre community park located next to the Santa Clara River. This park was dedicated the summer of 2008. Planning for the park began in the mid 1990’s. Part of the planned park project was on BLM property in which the city collaborated with the BLM to obtain that portion of the land. This park features plaques depicting events during the 2005 flood. Many of the homes that were washed away in the flood were located across the river from the park. FEMA money from lost city property from this flood and State money was used to construct this park. The playground equipment is very unique and makes the user think on how to use it. The largest playground piece connects to the climbing wall via a rope bridge. The climbing wall is 9’ high and 40’ long and has several different routes to challenge the users. Other park amenities include two shade pavilions with picnic tables and barbeques, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, open grass areas, lush landscape, swinging benches overlooking the children’s playground, restroom facilities, and a loop trail. The Santa Clara Regional Trail runs through the park. Hidden Valley Park, completed in 2008 by Ivory Homes as part of their development is tucked away in a quiet canyon. An asphalt multi-use trail connects this park to both the Desert Hills and Hidden Valley Communities. A flight of wooden steps from Desert Hills Drive was recently completed by a local Eagle Scout. J.C. Snow Park

A 10 acre community park suitable for large gatherings and events is located adjacent to Interstate 15. Surrounding the central parking lot and restroom facility are wide expanses of grass, three covered pavilions with picnic tables and barbecues, a children’s playground with swings, and two sand volleyball courts. The city’s first off-leash dog park is located in the northwest corner of the park providing separately fenced areas for both large and small dogs. Mathis Park

The 11 acre park is named in honor of the Mathis Family who donated farm land to the City of St. George. Although the fishing pond and park property were lost in the 2005 flood the park was re-built in 2008 with a number of added features and upgrades. The park amenities include a covered pavilion with picnic tables and barbecues, restroom facilities, loop walking trail, three separate grass areas, and a shaded children’s playground. Future improvements include another covered pavilion, additional playground equipment, and a splash pad. 120 trees from our tree farm have recently been planted in the grass areas and along the trail. Middleton Park

Petroglyph Park

This ½ acre rustic park highlights large boulders with petroglyphs. The carved images left behind on the rocks tell the stories of ancient peoples. Many of these carved images are recognizable as human and animal forms and perhaps early trail maps. Help us preserve this unique and fragile cultural heritage. Look and observe but do not touch.

This 52 acre rustic community park is a rock climber’s paradise. From Dixie Rock, also known as the Sugarloaf, spectacular views of downtown, White Dome, Zion National Park and Arizona can be seen. This park has a large trellis pavilion with two barbecues and fire ring, several smaller picnic areas with tables, two with metal trellis pavilions, and a separate fire pit with an amphitheater. Numerous hiking trails provide access to a Boy Scout Cave, historical pioneer cabin location, slot canyons and a connection into the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. Royal Oaks Park

Shadow Mountain Park may go unnoticed because most of it cannot be seen from the street. There is also a large trellis pavilion with picnic tables adjacent to the play ground. At the west end of the park is a secluded pond surrounded by a variety of evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs. The Fields Softball Complex combines four lighted softball fields with a small neighborhood park. This park hosts practice and team play for all ages ranging from little league to the Huntsman Senior Games. The softball facility includes a historical farm theme central building with restroom facilities, a concession area open during scheduled events, a scorekeeper’s room which can also accommodate small meetings and a shade covered playground. The neighborhood park elements include a children’s playground with swings and farm themed wood timber pavilion with picnic tables. The Fields Softball Complex is a WiFi hotspot. Amenities • BBQ • Picnic Tables • Playground • Restroom • Softball • Covered Pavillion • Walking Path • WiFi Hotspot • Parking • Open Grass Areas The Fields at Little Valley Phase 2 opened on April 9, 2009 and is getting rave reviews from the community. It is the second phase of a multi-phase project. This phase combines four full-sized soccer fields with a farm-themed neighborhood park. One of the soccer fields is lighted and the restroom was upsized to accommodate the many spectators for soccer games. Around the central plaza in the neighborhood park are two children’s playgrounds, two shaded picnic pavilions, and an interactive splash pad with tractor and windmill features. The Kompan playground equipment and Goric swing promise to keep children interested and engaged in active play. A walking path connects the central plaza to the remnants of a historic concrete irrigation ditch and a gathering area that mimics a building foundation reminiscent of original farmstead buildings. From this relic area a walkway leads across the street to the Fields Phase 1 softball fields. Future phases of The Fields may include a pavilion for large gatherings, a concession stand, additional soccer fields, sports courts, picnic pavilions and walking paths. Around the central plaza are two children’s playgrounds, two shaded picnic pavilions, and an interactive splash pad with tractor and windmill features. The Kompan playground equipment and Goric swing promise to keep children interested and engaged in active play. A walking path connects the central plaza to a gathering area designed to look like the relic of a building foundation. From this relic area a walkway leads across the street to the Fields Phase 1 softball fields. Future phases of The Fields may include additional soccer fields, sports courts, picnic pavilions and walking paths. Tonaquint Park

Tonaquint Park is again becoming one of the premier parks of St. George as it recovers from the devastating floods of 2005. The variety of features at this park include eight tournament quality tennis courts, two covered pavilions with picnic tables and barbecues for group picnics, a shaded children’s playground, Tonaquint Nature Center and pond, and loop walking trails that connect to the Santa Clara Trail. Adjacent to the park is the Washington County Water Conservancy District demonstration garden which is maintained by the conservancy and park staff. Future improvements will continue with the installation of additional trees and development of the southern portion of the park. Vernon Worthen Park is a community park located in the heart of St. George adjacent to the St. George Leisure Services Recreation Center. This 4 1/2 acre park includes a gazebo, four separate picnic areas, restroom facility, children’s playground with swings, and three lighted sand volleyball courts. The tennis courts were recently renovated to provide one futsal and four pickleball courts which are lighted. Gubler Park is a multi-use facility that is being built in phases. To this point it includes: a first-class quad softball/Little League Baseball complex complete with dugouts, bleachers, scoreboards, concession stand, restrooms, activity/conference room, and storage areas. The facilities are used for both local and visitor play of large and small groups: regulation softball tournaments, Huntsman World Senior Games, family teams, and more. The following amenities are also completed: Trails along the perimeter, large pavilion for picnics and/or shade, splash pad, bridge to the adjoining Lava Ridge Intermediate School fields with an area for soccer play and basketball. Located at the top of the hill on the heights section of Santa Clara, this park has provided residents and visitors with wonderful shade, welcoming events, and playful activities for many years. It offers a large open grass area, a ball field with bleachers and scoreboard to host Little League, softball and family play, a large and small pavilion to enjoy outdoor events, an additional pavilion with picnic tables, a sand volleyball court, and two tennis courts. The Lava Flow trail (paved) begins here, then twists and turns along Tuacahn Wash and through the Santa Clara Lava beds for more than a mile before it reaches Red Mountain Drive on the north of Santa Clara.
