We are pleased to announce the "1st International Symposium on Speaking Up and Speaking Out: Working for Social and Environmental Justice through Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Leisure" to be held on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, May 17th - 19th, 2012. The program includes 19 plenary sessions with contributions from the United States, Canada, Australia, and Spain. We invite you to join us in this groundbreaking experience. To view the program highlights, complete program schedule, and to register for the symposium, please go to http://www.health.utah.edu/prt/justice.html.
You will note that we have done our best to keep costs down. Moreover, we are happy to offer URPA members a special discount rate of $140 if you register before March 1st and $195 thereafter. To request the discount rate code, please email either Dan Dustin or Keri Schwab listed below. Also, if you wish to stay over at the University Guest House, we have obtained a good $89/night rate. (Share a room and cut this rate in half).
Additionally, we will be offering an upper division/graduate level course (2 semester credits) for anyone who may wish to earn university credit for attending the symposium, listening to, and reflecting upon on the symposium's content, and then writing an integrative paper about the experience. Students enrolling in, and paying for, this course will not have to pay the symposium registration fee. Questions regarding this opportunity should be directed to Dr. Keri Schwab at keri.schwab@health.utah.edu.
If you have any additional questions about the symposium, you may direct them to daniel.dustin@health.utah.edu or keri.schwab@health.utah.edu by email, or call Dan directly at 801-585-7560.
